I think it comes down to “instinct” and what works for you, but here are some litmus tests I apply to figure it out: How do you differentiate between “hard actionable items in Things and reminders through Due in iOS”? Not trying to shill or fanboy out here, just sharing my thoughts haha. No regrets on spending the money for it, plus I did buy their GTD Things 3 Setup PDF as well. The surface level points you see online barely scratches the surface. I’ve read it once and I’ve already found myself wanting / needing to read it again.

The first half of the book goes through the concepts, the second takes that information and demonstrates how to apply it in the real world using examples. It’s extensive and thorough, but mandatory in my opinion.

I thought maybe for some random tasks I need to complete here or there it might help, but I would either change it too much as my schedule pushed tasks out, or I wouldn't be in the right context/mental state to work on something. The auto-scheduler in Sorted didn't help at all.Sorted comes close, but Things feels cleaner overall - especially when it comes to options and settings. Honestly, I wouldn't say there's a wrong answer here. Obviously I didn't go crazy and move my entire systems into both, but I also wanted to see how processes worked in each throughout a normal week. I tried both Things 3 and Sorted 3 over a week, "lightly" using them both at the same time.
